Janiya’s Halloween Activities

I am definitely one of those people that just started to appreciate Halloween more as I got older, but better late than never.

My favorite holidays have always been Christmas and, of course, my very own birthday. Anything that involved any scary or something unsettling never crossed my path because I used to ignore the holiday as a whole.

As I grew more festive with my life, I started to enjoy Halloween without having to worry about scaring myself to death. I realized that this holiday can be fun and festive without worrying about having nightmares. Celebrating doesn’t necessarily have to be FEARFUL. Celebrating should consist of having a good time in the joy of eating sweets and participating in the Halloween season plans.

These are a list of activities that I recommend as I will be doing all of these as we await Halloween:

  1. Have a Scary Movie Marathon

The only horror movies that I really watch are Disney Channel Original Movies! Disney Channel’s scary films are elite because my childhood movies are better to watch than horror films that are targeted to the adult audience.

2. Carve Pumpkins

These memories stem from being in elementary school, and my homeroom teachers would make us vote for what we would want our class Jack-o-Lantern to look like.

Although this activity includes pumpkin insides and seeds everywhere, this is still fun and puts me in a decorative spirit. Pumpkins are a prominent symbol of the holiday as well.

3. Go Trick or Treating

Only do this activity if you are comfortable with going to different strangers’ homes. If the neighborhood is safe and comfortable to encounter, then this is a great way to relive our childhood memories.

Please make sure to double check your candy before you eat it.

4. Bake Halloween Cookies

Cookies are a plus. Adding cookies to the mix along with candy makes a sweet holiday for sure.

5. Decorate Everywhere

Wherever you live, I recommend to decorate wherever you are to enhance the experience and feeling of the holiday spirit even more. Decorations should be available at stores such as Michaels, Spirit Halloween, Hobby Lobby, Target, Walmart, Dollar Tree, etc.

6. Visit a Pumpkin Patch

This is perfect to do solo, as a date, or with a group.

7. Go to a Halloween Party

This option is for extroverted people. This is a great way to be around other people.

8. Dress Up in a Costume

To add any extra sparkle to the festivities, pick a memorable and iconic costume.

9. Visit a Haunted House

This is one of the traditional festivities that people attend.

I put this last on my list because I wanted to show other activities that involve Halloween, but visiting a haunted house is one of the most popular ways to celebrate the holiday!
